William L. Furmanski
As Truth Initiative’s Senior Vice President, Communications, Bill Furmanski is part of a team that is responsible for making media and policy influencers in the public, private and non-profit sectors aware of the organization’s initiatives and engaging them in the fight to end the tobacco epidemic.
Bill has developed collaborations with high-profile partners such as Mayo Clinic, Pfizer and the Men’s Health Network. He also coordinated the creation of a Truth Initiative-led national quit-smoking campaign that brought together national nonprofits, federal agencies and state and local health departments as partners in the multi-year effort.
He has devoted much of his career to the fight against tobacco. Bill helped to launch the national truth campaign and other Truth Initiative efforts beginning in 1999 directing public relations and outreach. In addition, Bill was deputy director for the American Cancer Society’s Center for Tobacco Cessation where he led a program to advance tobacco dependence treatment through improved policies and practices.
