Grants and scholarships

Truth Initiative offers grants and scholarships to support action on the ground, including opportunities for colleges and universities to adopt tobacco-free campus policies and for students and young people to continue to take action in their communities. Here are our current opportunities. Check back for more.

Impact Scholarship

Truth Initiative empowers and enables young people to be change-makers in their communities — but we know not everyone who has the power to make change has the resources. The truth Impact Scholarship is awarding one $10,000 and one $5,000 scholarship to two people as a kickstart toward shaping their futures and reaching their goals.Impact Scholarship winners will work with truth to inspire others to take action and be part of our movement of ending tobacco use for good.

Tobacco-free College Program

Virtually all smokers — 99 percent — start smoking before turning 26 years old. That’s why Truth Initiative, in partnership with CVS Health Foundation, offers grants of up to $20,000 to women’s colleges, minority-serving academic institutions and community colleges to advocate for, adopt and implement a 100% smoke- or tobacco-free policy. Grantees of the Tobacco-free College Program receive guidance through webinars, learning communities, an in-person training and one-on-one consultations throughout the grant period. Using the principles of community organizing and direct action, truth college leaders work to build momentum for change on their campuses. So far, we’ve impacted almost 1 million students, faculty and staff members at more than 180 colleges.
