Helping youth activists spread the truth about tobacco

truth® is now taking applications for the second annual National Summit on Youth Activism, scheduled for July 12-16 in Orlando, Florida.

At the summit young activists participate in community engagement, activism and organizing training, and learn how to use traditional and new media to support their activism.

During the 2015 inaugural National Summit on Youth Activism, 70 high school students from the states with the highest youth smoking rates convened in Orlando to hone their skills. The participants came from 20 youth organizations in 17 states. They spent their week developing projects to help their generation end the tobacco epidemic.

One group out of Philadelphia, for example, went on to convene their first tobacco prevention youth summit. More than 200 youth attended the event, which was organized around the goal of making Philadelphia the first city to end tobacco.

Applications are available at the truth application system and will be accepted through May 6.
