Elizabeth C. Hair
Elizabeth Hair, Ph.D., M.A., is a vice president for evaluation science and research at Truth Initiative. She has more than two decades experience in conducting research on child and family well-being. In her career, Dr. Hair has conducted research on issues related to children’s health and mental health, health risk behaviors among adolescents, vulnerable youth, the transition to adulthood, children’s school readiness and childhood obesity.
She has an extensive background synthesizing and reporting on program practices aimed at improving the well-being of young people. Her work has been funded by several major U.S. foundations as well as federal agencies including the National Institutes of Health and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Currently, Dr. Hair oversees a longitudinal evaluation of the truth® campaign’s effectiveness in communicating anti-smoking messages to young adults.
Dr. Hair was a senior research scientist at NORC at the University of Chicago prior to joining Truth Initiative. She has published widely in leading research journals including Development Psychology, the Journal of Adolescent Health and Early Childhood Research Quarterly.
She has her doctorate and a master’s degree from Texas A&M University.
