Bio

Christy Hartsell is responsible for leading our efforts to engage with companies, government entities, foundations and other organizations to provide critical funding to support the organization’s mission and expand the reach of the organization's work, as the senior vice president of development at Truth Initiative®.

Hartsell brings a track record of media and nonprofit experience to her role at Truth Initiative. She led corporate relations at influential nonprofit organizations, including the National Park Foundation and the USO. At the National Park Foundation, Hartsell developed partnerships with Disney, Subaru, AirWick, Arm & Hammer and others in the approach to the centennial of the National Park Service. She and her team also developed a partnership with L.L. Bean to encourage youth to spend time outdoors, which helped the organization earn its first Halo Award from the Cause Marketing Forum (now Engage for Good). Most recently, Hartsell helped the field staff at the American Heart Association build its corporate partnerships in support of creating heathy lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Hartsell spent the first 20-plus years of her career in media. She built The Washington Times’ internet advertising business. For USA TODAY, she established new business ventures, such as content and brand licensing, airport stores, books, magazines, mobile games, a wine club and other brand extensions.

Hartsell was a scholarship tennis player at Tulane University in New Orleans where she received a bachelor’s degree in Communications. She is a native of Dallas and lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband, Mark.
