STOP THE INFLUENCE: REJECT BIG TOBACCO AND VAPE MONEY

We, the undersigned youth-serving, environmental, social and racial justice, and public health organizations; college and university leaders; faith groups; and cultural institutions are joining forces for the first time to declare our organizations will not accept funding from or any form of partnership with the tobacco industry. 

As an organization committed to the betterment of our nation through public health, social justice, racial equality and protecting our planet, we recognize the devastating impact tobacco and nicotine addiction have on our society: every year, more than 480,000 Americans die due to tobacco use and smoking-related illness costs the United States more than $170 billion.

Because tobacco companies cast partners or charitable giving recipients as allies, accepting funding or partnership with the tobacco industry has the potential to imply support for this deadly business.

By joining this pledge, we take an important step toward ending Big Tobacco’s influence and creating a more prosperous, equitable, and healthier nation.
